Biography

Pierre Alechinsky (1927) Belgian artist Alechinsky initially studied typography and printing techniques at the École Nationale Supérieure d`Archirecture et des Arts Déoratifs in Brussels. In 1947, he began painting and joined the group Jeune Peinture Belge. After meeting the poet Christian Dotremont, one of the founders of the CoBrA group, he becomes a member of this movement in 1949. He exhibited at the “First International Exhibition Cobra” at the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam and at the last joint exhibition of Cobra in Liège. After the dissolution of the CoBrA group, Alechinsky goes to Paris in 1951, where he is influenced by surrealism.
